Gage County board discusses property valuations at equalization meeting
The Gage County Board of Supervisors discussed the property valuation process before its regular meeting Tuesday at the Gage County Courthouse. Meeting as the Board of Equalization, the supervisors were talking about whether to retain Dickinson Real Estate and Stanard Appraisal Services as referees for the 2024 protest period. "We've got senators, we've got the governor, we've got a lot of people that need to understand the process," Milligan said. "What's happening is the upper houses are not raising (in price) based on the fact that there's only a certain percentage of people that can buy those types of houses," Milligan said later. "If you write on your protest, 'My taxes are too high,' my office is only concerned with the valuation," Milligan said.

India eyes oil deals with nations including Russia, minister says

The lawmakers said that the government successfully managed the adverse impact of COVID-19 on the economy. They also said that the budget was placed with a prime focus on maintaining economic stability and augmenting steps to materialise the government's "Smart Bangladesh" vision. He placed the country's 53rd budget and the 25th of the Awami League (AL) government in six terms. This budget is also the 21st under the rule of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in different terms.

Man dies, 40 fall sick
A man has died and as many as 40 others have been hospitalised after they fell sick due to gas leaking from an old cylinder at a shop in Dhaka's Adabor. The incident occurred at a junk shop owned by a man named Kalu near Shyamoli Housing Gate No. At least 40 other people from the area were taken sick and admitted to different hospitals, including Dhaka Medical and Suhrawardy Hospital. All the people working at a tin-shed building next to the shop fell sick. Many people in neighbouring houses also fell sick after the gas spread.

Three killed in Chandpur road accident
CHANDPUR, June 11, 2024 (BSS) - Three people were killed and two others injured in a collision between a sand-laden truck and a CNG-run auto rickshaw on the Chandpur-Cumilla regional highway in Gogra area under Hajiganj upazila of the district this afternoon. All deceased were passengers of the CNG-run auto rickshaw. The accident occurred in the area when a sand-laden truck rammed the CNG-run auto rickshaw coming from the opposite direction around 2:45pm, leaving Sobuj dead on the spot and four others critically injured, officer-in-charge (OC) of Hajiganj Police Station Abdur Rashid said. The injured were taken to Chandpur Sadar Hospital where two of them succumbed to their injuries, he added. Legal actions will be taken in this regard, said the OC.

Movie will be made from Millard North grad's book on California fire
For a brief moment after high school at Millard North, Lizzie Johnson considered studying marine biology — there’s something about oceans that seems attractive to land-locked Nebraskans. Jamie Lee Curtis is developing the project from a book that took three years to report and write. She started at the Washington Post in 2021. One of those she’s most proud of is an investigation into a high school rowing coach who was abusing girls on his team. As part of the enterprise reporting team at the Washington Post, she’s traveled to Ukraine to cover that conflict from the front lines.
