According to figures released by the national Congress, inflation in the month of July rose by 2.4 percent for the country as a whole. The national statistics bureau (INDEC) is set to release its own index today. The lawmakers were making reference to the fact that the institute was considered untrustworthy beginning in 2007 when inflation statistics plunged overnight following the dismissal of several key authorities. Ever since then, INDEC was criticized for presenting less-than-accurate figures on inflation, poverty and the economy at large. This is the year with the highest numbers ever since the current inflationary process started in 2007,” states the report.

Thursday, August 11, 2016 Gas, electricity firms: we are losing moneyThe suspension of gas and electricity hikes across the country is leaving companies without sources of revenue, according to distributing firms. That decision is leaving firms in financial problems, executives argue, as neither subsidies nor users’ cash are coming in to pay for their costs. The reason, they argue, is that the courts’ resolutions took out 30 percent of its sales. The government agreed to a series of infrastructure investments with gas and electricity distributors following the hikes, as it argued that they had been left to decay during the previous years while rates remained low, in order to reduce costs. “Without an urgent re-adecuation of rates, we think assistence from the national government will be needed, (as otherwise) the investments that were agreed to will and that were launched could be seriously affected,” Córdoba’s gas distributor Ecogas said yesterday.

Thursday, August 11, 2016 Wrong case in the wrong handsIf in 2004 Néstor Kirchner appointed prosecutor Alberto Nisman as head of a special unit to clarify the 1994 AMIA Jewish community centre terrorist bombing, the passage of time has only increased the distance from any such clarification — after sending the investigation down the wrong track with the revival of Nisman’s complaint, the case is now falling into the wrong hands. Bonadio was removed from the case on these grounds in 2005 while five years later Nisman himself accused him of hampering the investigation. Yet Bonadio is the last of the available magistrates who should be handling this case. Since then, Palmaghini has managed the case almost all the time. All specific objections, quite apart from all the general doubts which might arise from Bonadio’s record.

But like charity (and perhaps only in that respect), capital markets begin at home. There also seems an insufficient appreciation as to just how large capital markets bulk in today’s world as opposed to what is still called the real economy. dollars) which could otherwise fuel the financial system as a whole. Thursday, August 11, 2016 Of capital importanceThese images of money being counted in La Rosadita financial house sparked a national scandal but this column argues that not enough money is counted in the Argentine economy. For me, from the first day, the only way to live in Rio was to stay in a favela. Vidigal is like a Disney version of ‘favela experience.’ Having the experience but being able to remove yourself from it too. It is a popular accommodation for travelers looking for a Rio experience that is more “authentic” than what’s to be found in Rio’s more established neighborhoods. “Without a doubt, my experience of Rio was different because I lived in the favela. But if you live in the favela, you’ll experience a different side of Rio.”Still, while tourism is welcomed in this favela, it has its drawbacks, as Naty explains.

When a regular walked in and joked with Mauro about his order, Mauro [jokingly] threatened to kick him out again. But if someone doesn’t like my food, that’s not my problem.” In a way, Mauro is a walking stereotype. All noodles are dry, because “if we served fresh noodles everyday my stomach would have exploded long ago.” The carbonara is a reliable favorite. This only works if the food and atmosphere are good, and Mauro.it has a decade to show that good food trumps all else. The restaurant is simple, decked out with a mini almacen where they sell imported noodles and caffè Mauro.

President Mauricio Macri’s administration today managed to block the opposition from putting the brakes on the government’s tarifazo, or marked price increase in utilities, in a Congressional session. They are set to reconvene in Congress next week to continue fighting against the tarifazo. There had in fact been two special sessions on the agenda today, one encouraged by the FR and another pushed for by the Victory Front (FpV), which are the main opposition parties. However, the session was bogged down by heated discussions over how the different motions should be voted: whether they should be approved with two thirds majority or a simple majority (over half of the votes). In order to stop the motion to intervene in Aranguren’s tenure as Energy Minister, the Cambiemos Lower House caucus leader, Mario Negri proposed that he should be “invited” to give explanations“It’s a lollipop made of wood,” said Sergio Massa, head of the Renewal Front (FR).

Buenos Aires City Mayor Horacio Rodríguez Larreta today announced a plan to urbanize Villas 31 and 31 bis — shantytowns, for lack of a better word, located in the neighborhood of Retiro — and officially integrate them into the City of Buenos Aires. In an event taking place in the villa today, Larreta explained that the project has three main goals: improve education, health and labor. Villa 31, one of the oldest shantytowns in the country, was created by the City Government as a result of the housing problems that resulted from the 1929 Great Depression. Infobae reported that in order to finance the initiative, the Larreta administration will sell a part of the City’s shooting range in Nuñez and intends to get a US $170 million loan from the World Bank as well. Let’s briefly break these down:Education: this is perhaps the most ambitious project, as Larreta announced his administration will move its Education Ministry into the neighborhood.
