An olive tree next to the memorial marks the location of Federico García Lorca’s grave, which might not actually be his grave. *The story of Lorca’s assassination during the Spanish Civil War is convoluted and often contradictory, winding from Madrid to the countryside of Andalusia. The history surrounding Lorca’s death and final resting place is ambiguous. Though the circumstances of Lorca’s death are still uncertain, the facts around his actual remains are even more tenuous. Servini de Cubría had previously investigated the Spanish Civil War, in some cases probing deeper than officials in Spain.

How Much Will Homeowners Pay, Then? Those who haven’t paid will now have to pay their overdue bills — without interest, surely — along with their future ones. It’s likely the Macri administration will instate a payment plan for those who can’t or won’t pay their bills all at once. They are only held for informational purposes and are not legally binding, according to the protocol for public hearings. The ruling only applies to gas increases.

If you’re the type to check out people’s clothing, you can’t go one day on the streets of Buenos Aires without noticing that porteñas love their platform shoes. When I arrived to BA, my first question was, “WHY?” My second question, to my surprise: “Where can I get some?”First, an acknowledgement: Not everybody in town loves platform shoes. She lightened up the style with coordinating – but not overly matchy – chunky platforms (also a Ricky Sarkany style). You say potato, I say platform. So love ’em or leave ’em, it’s safe to say that these shoes are in it for the long haul.

The Ruling Strategy, If There Is OneHow does this trial by error strategy work? “In most cases, Macri’s strategy seems to be composed of three stages: collective deliberation, centralized decision and decentralized implementation,” argues Andrés Malamud, a political scientist of Lisbon University. And whether Macri wanted to or not, it’s become his political strategy. Macri’s Boundaries: State Power Is No Matter of DoubtWhether the President is adopting the right or wrong road in terms of political strategy is not the right question. We can also add that Macri’s way of communicating “doesn’t use traditional channels but alternatives, based on social media and user interaction.

The Supreme Court has unanimously decided to halt the increase in gas prices, put forward by the Energy Ministry under Juan José Aranguren, for residential consumers, or homes. In addition, Judges Ricardo Lorenzetti, Carlos Maqueda, Elena Highton de Nolasco and Horacio Rosatti stipulated that policy changes of this nature (such as service hikes) must first be presented to the people through public hearings before being implemented. This is in accordance with Article 42 of the Constitution. When the Federal Court of La Plata ruled to ban gas price increases across the country, the Macri administration appealed the ruling, bringing it to the Supreme Court, which today has supported the Federal Court’s decision. Energy Minister Aranguren appeared on Tuesday before a special committee in Congress to justify the steep increases in utilities, collectively known as the tarifazo, including the increase in gas prices.

Yesterday, the Buenos Aires Provincial Senate approved a bill that limits the number of reelections for mayors, councillors and legislators in the province to one, i.e. This puts an end to the “indefinite reelection” system that encouraged many politicians to remain in power for decades and is still present in other provinces. The initiative affects 135 mayors, 138 legislators, 1,097 councillors and 427 school advisors in the province. FR leader, Sergio Massa, thanked Buenos Aires senators for their courage and celebrated the “end of a paradigm” on Twitter. There are currently four provinces that allow for an indefinite amount of reelections: Formosa, Catamarca, San Luis and Santa Cruz.

Following the Security Ministry’s decision to improve the security of President Mauricio Macri, additional measures are being taken to protect the Casa Rosada and other officials, as threats to their safety continue to be a regular occurrence. Everyone who arrived at the Casa Rosada after the long weekend — yes, even high-ranking officials — found that security procedures to enter the Casa Rosada had changed. This new procedure is a response to a bomb threat the Casa Rosada received last Friday. Other threats also arrived via social media, leading to two men being arrested last month for making threats in the name of ISIS. El Espectador also reports that former President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner has received threats as well.

Public and private teachers’ unions today announced they will conduct nationwide strikes, following the Macri administration’s refusal to re-open collective bargaining (or salary increases) negotiations. While public school teachers’ union (Ctera), announced their strike for August 24 and will march in different provinces, private school teachers’ union (Sadop), have decided to strike on September 2. Moreover, the union representing public school teachers in Buenos Aires Province (Suteba) — which already went on strike last week — decided to strike again for 48 hours sometime between late August and early September. It’s also important to clarify that the national collective bargaining agreement is not the final salary increase for teachers: each teachers’ union negotiates with its respective province, which actually pays teachers. Public school teachers in Buenos Aires Province, for example, agreed on a 43.6 percent salary increase.
