Egyptian Finance Minister Mohamed Maait on Sunday discussed with South Korean Ambassador to Cairo Hong Jin-wook ways to increase the volume of Korean investments in Egyptian bonds with the aim of diversifying financing tools. “We are keen to develop relations between the two countries in all fields, in light of the growing volume of Korean investments in Egypt, which prompts us to overcome all obstacles,” Maait said. He added that he is also eager to solve any problems that Korean companies operating in Egypt may face in the tax and customs fields. This will help stimulate foreign investments, he said, and achieve stability for these companies in their activities and business. He expressed his country’s desire to enhance economic cooperation with Egypt, and increase Korean investments due to Egypt’s promising circumstances.

The Ministry of Irrigation on Saturday said that Egypt has signed a protocol for technical cooperation in water resources signed with South Sudan’s Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, which includes a project to prepare feasibility studies for the construction of a “multipurpose” dam. This comes as Egypt aims to implement several projects to serve citizens and achieve stability by solving drinking water problems and protecting against flood risks. The ministry prepared the integrated technical and economic studies for the project with the assistance of the National Water Research Center’s experts to prepare hydrological and hydraulic studies, survey work and contour maps of the site. The Ambassador of South Sudan to Egypt Joseph Mom confirmed that Vice President of South Sudan James Wani Iga will visit Egypt in July, at the head of a high-level delegation that includes a large number of ministers in the Government of South Sudan, to hold meetings of the committee shared between the two countries. He pointed out that the committee – in which the Egyptian side will be headed by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly – will discuss ways to activate the memoranda of understanding and cooperation that were signed between the various ministries in the two countries.

CAIRO - 27 July 2020: Sudanese Minister of Cabinet Affairs Khaled Omar Youssef said Saturday that the process of initiating the second filling of the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam is a very dangerous step that threatens the security and safety of Sudan. "We adhere to the peaceful option, and all means to defend our country and not allow any party to threaten its security," he added. Ethiopia conducted its first filling in July 2020 with 5 billion cubic meters. The total capacity of the reservoir is 74 billion cubic meters to be filled over several years [the years number is still one of the disagreements between the three countries]. Ethiopia, on the other side affirms that the second filling will be conducted, despite all negotiations and mediations.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi arrived in the Iraqi capital Baghdad on Sunday morning, to participate in the tripartite summit between Egypt, Iraq and Jordan, with Mustafa al-Kadhimi, Iraqi Prime Minister, and King Abdullah II of Jordan. This marks the first visit of an Egyptian president to Iraq in 30 years, and follows in the wake of the fourth round of a tripartite cooperation framework launched in Cairo in March 2019. Sisi was received at Baghdad International Airport by Iraqi President Barham Salih. Egyptian presidential spokesperson Bassam Rady said that this historic visit reflects the strength of the extended historical relations between Egypt and Iraq. Salih affirmed the depth of the ties between the two nations, and his country’s eagerness to elevate cooperation with Egypt to further strategic partnership.

CAIRO – 28 June 2021: Egypt strongly condemned a missile attack on a thermal power station in Iraq's Samarra city. In a statement issued by Foreign Ministry Monday, The Foreign Ministry stressed that Egypt backs Iraq's measures to maintain its security and stability in the face of heinous terrorist operations. The Salahaddin plant in Samarra was hit by a Katyusha rocket causing huge material damage. Sisi pledged Cairo's overwhelming backing to the Iraqi people in all fields at the bilateral level or through tripartite cooperation involving Iraq, Egypt, and Jordan, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radi said. The Egyptian president's remarks came during his meeting with Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mohammad al-Halbousi as part of his current visit to Iraq.

According to the spokesperson of the Egyptian presidency, Sisi highlighted the Egyptian people’s respect for the Iraq and its civilization and history. He added that the government will work in enhancing cooperation on all levels and in all fields, besides the tripartite cooperation with Jordan. The Egyptian President met with the Iraqi parliament speaker Mohamed al-Halbousi. The latter said he looks forward to all kinds of cooperation with Egypt, including parliamentary cooperation. Sisi was received earlier by Iraqi President Burhum Saleh and Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi in a high profile reception.

CAIRO – 27 June 2021: Trade exchange between Egypt and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) recorded $4.111 billion during 2020, compared to $3.36 billion in 2019, according to Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea. Gamea added that the UAE represents Egypt's largest trading partner in the Middle East. These statements came during Gamea’s meeting with the new ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Egypt Hamad Saeed Al Shamsi. They discussed enhancing means of cooperation between the two brotherly countries in various fields, especially economic and investment cooperation. Al Shamsi pointed out that these relations witnessed a remarkable development during the past years in several major sectors, especially in the economic and commercial fields.

Egypt’s Health Ministry on Saturday confirmed 409 new coronavirus cases, bringing the country’s total number up to 280,005, ministry spokesperson Khaled Megahed announced. The total number of COVID-19-related deaths has now reached 16,062 nationwide, after the ministry announced 31 deaths. And 438 patients were discharged from quarantine at isolation hospitals, raising Egypt’s total number of fully-recovered cases to 209,395. A total of 210,000 doses touched down at Cairo International Airport, according to the Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement and Medical Supplies. The remainder of the doses will be delivered according to the contract in the coming period.

Egypt will continue to put forth its vision vis-à-vis GERD, Shoukry said, adding that the dam issue should be taken with great seriousness. As for Ethiopian officials' statements on GERD, Shoukri dubbed the Ethiopian statements as "provocative", stating that such statements were meant to dissuade Egypt from the main topic. This is not a threat.”Sudan, as well has warned more than once of filling the GERD before reaching a legal binding agreement.

CAIRO - 27 June 2020: The Health Ministry said Saturday night that 409 new coronavirus cases were detected, upping the total number of confirmed cases since the outbreak in the country began to 280,005. Egypt received on June 24, a consignment of 210,000 doses of Sputnik V anti-COVID-19 vaccine within a deal to acquire 10 million doses. Until present, the country got 2.2 million doses of those in addition to two million Sinopharm doses within a deal with China comprising 20 million doses. Furthermore, Egypt will produce 40 million doses annually of Sinovac and Sputnik V vaccines. The second consists of five million doses.

CAIRO - 27 July 2020: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi asserted on Sunday that Egypt was looking forward to upgrading bilateral cooperation with Iraq within the framework of sustainability of economic integration and strategic cooperation especially in light of the major challenges besetting the region and the negative impact of the coronavirus pandemic. These remarks were delivered by the Egyptian president during his meeting with Iraqi President Burham Saleh. Saleh, for his part, welcomed President Sisi and described him as a "dear guest" of Baghdad, asserting the depth of the two countries' ties. The Iraqi president also highlighted the pivotal role of Egypt at the regional and international levels, the spokesman added. He also highlighted the need for enhancing coordination between the educational, cultural, and religious institutions in both countries.

The head of Egypt’s National Council for Women Maya Morsi on Saturday stepped into outrage over two recent cases of discrimination over women’s clothing, one against a university of Tanta student wearing a dress to an exam and the other against a girl named Dina Hashem who was barred from entering a hotel due to her Islamic mayo (swimsuit). In an interview with Amr Adib’s “al-Hikaya” (The Story) talk show, Morsi said that she spoke with the president of Tanta University and confirmed there would be a serious investigation into the incident. “How does the monitoring committee ridicule the girl before she enters the exam? The exam supervisor does not have the right to comment on her dress or her religion, but the role of the supervisor is to prepare the atmosphere for students to do the exam in a calm atmosphere,” she said. She added that Egypt is not a “veiled or not-veiled” nation, and stressed that if the girls filed for discrimination it will be far more effective than depending on internal regulations.

Four women were killed on Friday when a building collapsed in al-Attarin neighborhood of Alexandria, northern Egypt. Civil Protection Forces in Alexandria said it managed to recover the body of the fourth victim on Saturday morning. Three others survived the collapse, and a 70-year-old woman was injured and transferred to Gamal Hamada Hospital for treatment. He added that the residents of the collapsed property were sheltered in a school under preparations of the Directorate of Social Solidarity in Alexandria. Naqidi said that all utilities such as gas, electricity and water were disconnected and heavy equipment and vehicles removed the rubble from the collapse of the property.
