CAIRO – 22 June 2021: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Tuesday that the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) has chosen Egypt to be the guest country in the 25th edition marking the Silver Jubilee in 2022. The announcement was made following a meeting by Egyptian Ambassador to Moscow Ihab Nasr and Advisor to Russian President Anton Kobyakov. The selection of Egypt is an outcome of the ratification of the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement between both countries by President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi in January 2021. The agreement was signed in 2018 during a visit by President Vladimir Putin to Egypt. Egypt and Russia will continue working closely for the former to get the most out of its participation in SPIEF 2022.

CAIRO – 22 June 2021: Egypt’s Railway Authority announced that a locomotive vehicle collided with another train at Misr Station in Alexandria, leaving 40 people sustaining minor injuries, announce Ministry of Health Tuesday. At 9:15 a.m., while an express train moving from Platform 8, traveling from Alexandria to Cairo, the locomotive of another train behind moved and collided with the last carriage of the express train. A total of 27 ambulances were dispatched to collision site to transfer the injured to hospitals. The Ministry of Health stressed that all the injured are receiving the necessary treatment and medical care in hospitals until they recover. The accident left two killed and six others injured, according to a statement by the Ministry of Health.

The Interior Ministry has intensified efforts to arrest the driver of a Helwan train who fled the scene of the accident after colliding with two minibuses carrying factory workers from Kafr Aboul Ela, killing two people and injuring six others. Security authorities received a notification of a train collision with two minibuses, which resulted in casualties and injuries. Egypt has invested more than a trillion pounds to develop infrastructure within seven years, Planning Minister Hala al-Saeed announced.
