Sisi called to work together in advancing relations within sectors Spain boasts expertise in, such as health-care, shipping and renewable energy in addition to strengthening cooperation in the tourism field and encouraging Spanish companies to take advantage of the investment opportunities available in Egypt, such as in major national projects. Sanchez on his end conveyed his appreciation towards Egypt’s leadership and people, emphasizing the firm bond both countries share and his desire to see them grow. He also emphasized Spain’s eagerness on intensifying cooperation with Egypt, especially given its role in laying the foundations of peace in the Middle East and Mediterranean region, and its efforts in combating terrorism, extremist ideology and illegal immigration.

CAIRO – 8 June 2021: Egypt’s budget for 2021/2022 shows great attention to replacing petroleum products with natural gas amid unprecedented figures of homes that have access to the energy. Some L.E.3.5 billion are allocated to the program to supply homes with natural gas in 2021/2022, the same amount of 2020/2021, and the target is 1.2 million families with access to the gas. A total of L.E.12.1 billion in 2021/2022 are allocated to economic activities, including supplying homes with natural gas and the replacement of vehicles to run on gas instead of diesel and gasoline. In five years only, 40 percent of 11.8 million housing units operating on natural gas had their supply. The remaining 60 percent were supplied with natural gas over 25 years.

Hot weather is predicted over the northern coasts, with very hot weather on Greater Cairo and the rest of the regions. Monday saw hot weather in Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt and northern Upper Egypt, with moderate weather in the northern coasts, hot weather in northern Upper Egypt and South Sinai, and very hot weather in southern Upper Egypt. Active winds blew over Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt, the northwest coasts, and South Sinai. Monday’s temperatures included 32C in Cairo, 27C in Alexandria, 25C in Matrouh, 36C in Sohag, 40C in Aswan.

Egypt’s Health Ministry on Monday confirmed 782 new coronavirus cases, bringing the country’s total number of confirmed cases up to 268,754The total number of COVID-19-related deaths has now reached 15,399 nationwide, after the ministry announced 47 deaths. And 677 patients were discharged from quarantine at isolation hospitals, raising Egypt’s total number of fully-recovered cases to 197,281. A country-wide partial lockdown aimed at curbing cases that has been in place since May 6 ended on Tuesday. All restaurants, cafés, shops, and malls can now resume normal business hours and stay open later than the previously enforced 9 pm curfew. Egypt is currently using China’s Sinopharm vaccine and the UK’s AstraOxford vaccine, and it has plans to soon begin locally manufacturing China’s Sinovac vaccine and Russia’s Sputnik-V.

Under the agreement, Sinovac will grant VACSERA a limited license to use the manufacturing technology. The Chairman of the Board of Directors of EgyptAir Airlines Amr Nabil announced Monday travel rules for Egyptians abroad, especially to the European Union. During a phone interview with host Lamis al-Hadidi on her show Kalema Akhera (Last word), Nabil said that the EU forbids visits except for special cases to some European countries like France such as emergenicies, studies or those who have residency, while travel is not allowed for those holding regular visas. He added that some European countries set conditions before traveling to it, such as the Netherlands which forbid travel except for holders of residency and diplomatic residency, and negative PCR results must be shown no more than 72 hours before the flight. On the news that Spain will allow travel, provided that two doses of the vaccine are obtained, he said: “We have received news about that, and the traveler must obtain a negative PCR test.”In addition, the traveler must have a registration code, which means that the analysis of their sample is proven from approved laboratories, and it cannot be falsified according to QR codes which laboratories affiliated to the Ministry of Health are responsible for accrediting, Nabil said.
