CAIRO - 14 June 2020: Irrigation Minister Mohamed Abdel Aati said Monday that cooperation projects with South Sudan are successful and could serve as a role model in Africa. In a meeting with his top aides, Abdel Aati said a number of development projects have been implemented in South Sudan with the aim to achieve sustainable development there and improve living conditions of citizens. Egypt has established 13 water plants in South Sudan, he added. He added that his Ministry has established six ground water plants around Juba and seven more inside the capital. Some river piers have also been established with the aim to connect major cities and villages in South Sudan, Abdel Aati further said.

Sudanese Minister of Investment Abdel Hady Ibrahim said that Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has provided much international support towards Egypt. During a press conference on the sidelines of the First Forum of African Investment Promotion Agencies held in Sharm el-Sheikh, on Sunday, Ibrahim stated that Egypt is a permanent supporter of Sudan in various international and regional issues. Sisi also provided clear support to Sudan at the Paris conference through its strong speech, Ibrahim said, adding that Egypt has also helped Sudan with international financial institutions thereby allowing his nation to obtain debt relief under the the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) initiative. Egypt and Sudan are united by their eagerness to reach a binding legal agreement on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, he added. It ends on June 14 with the signing of two memoranda of understanding.

CAIRO - 14 June 2020: The Health Ministry said Sunday night that 691 new coronavirus cases were detected, upping the total number of confirmed cases since the outbreak of Covid-19 in the country to 273,182. In a statement, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Dr Khaled Megahed said 41 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 15,623. Egypt has so far received millions of coronavirus vaccine doses and is planning to locally produce the first batch of the Chinese Sinovac vaccine this month. As the country has started its vaccination campaign in January, more than 3.5 million citizens have been vaccinated, according to Health Ministry spokesman Khaled Megahed earlier this week. Also, the ministry started vaccinating homebound citizens against coronavirus through sending medical teams to their houses.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on Sunday evening arrived in the Qatari capital Doha to participate in talks on various issues such as the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD). Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ahmed Hafez said that Shoukry’s visit will see him participate in the consultative meeting of Arab foreign ministers held at the invitation of Qatar, president of the current session of the Arab League Council. COPENHAGEN (Reuters) -Denmark's Christian Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest when he collapsed during his side's Euro 2020 opening match against Finland, his team's doctor confirmed on Sunday, but the reason remained unclear. "He was gone; we did cardiac resuscitation, it was a cardiac arrest. We got him back after one defib (defibrillation),” Morten Boesen told a news conference, adding that Eriksen remained in hospital for further tests after his collapse on Saturday. Eriksen, 29, collapsed suddenly in the 42nd minute of the match while running near the left touchline after a Denmark throw-in. The Danish players had been in contact with Eriksen via a video conference, said Peter Moller, director of Danish football association DBU.

Abbas explained that five fully serviced residential towers are being constructed in Alamein city, implemented by the Chinese company “CSCEC”. CAIRO - 13 June 2020: Sudanese Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdouk has stressed the need to reach a binding legal agreement about the filling and operation of Ethiopia's Renaissance Dam. He also said the AU is closely following negotiations on the Renaissance Dam and agreed that Sudan would provide the Union with further information about the controversial dam. The Egyptian ministry said its statement comes in response to Ethiopian foreign ministry spokesman Dina Mufti’s reiteration that his country will implement the second dam filling even if the three countries do not reach an agreement on the filling and operation of the dam. In 2015, the three countries signed the Declaration of Principles, per which the downstream countries [Egypt and Sudan] should not be negatively affected by the construction of the dam. This is not a threat.”Sudan, as well has warned more than once of filling the GERD before reaching a legal binding agreement.

The Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement, Supply, Medical Supply and Medical Technology Administration (UPA) announced Saturday it has secured over 46 million COVID-19 doses during the fiscal year 2020/2021. The head of the UPA Bahaa Eddin Zaidan said that these vaccines include two million doses of the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine, one million doses of the Chinese Sinovac vaccine, and 50,000 doses of the English AstraZeneca vaccine. It has also contracted for 20 million doses of the American Johnson & Johnson vaccine, to be supplied after two weeks, and 20 million doses of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine – the procedures for which to supply the first batches are currently being finalized. Zaidan stated that 2.75 million doses of the seasonal four strains of influenza vaccine were also contracted, which the authority has made available for the first time in Egypt. The Ministry of Health also announced that it will soon begin producing Russia’s Sputnik V and China’s Sinovac vaccines at Vacsera.
