The government is working on simplifying the customs clearance process, and work is under way to bring about a significant shift in this respect, with a view to turning Egyptian seaports to global ones to boost trade movement, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said. Madbouly made the remarks while chairing a meeting on Tuesday to discuss customs clearance streamlining measures at Egyptian ports, in the presence of the ministers of finance, transport, trade and industry, along with a host of senior officials from the state bodies concerned, including the Central Bank of Egypt, the General Organization for Veterinary Services, the National Food Safety Authority, the Egyptian Customs Authority, and the Maritime Transport Sector. In a statement, Cabinet Spokesman Sameh al-Kheshen said the total value of released goods from January 1 till September 30 had amounted to $53.7 billion, while the total value of strategic commodities released within the same period reached $14.3 billion. In addition, the total value of released production inputs stood at $24.8 billion, the spokesman added, noting that goods worth $5.9 billion had been released in September.

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) said the game had been "cancelled due to unanticipated and unforeseen circumstances". "The AFC reiterates its commitment towards ensuring the safety and security of the players, match officials, spectators, and all stakeholders involved," the body said in a statement. Relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia have long been strained and this year's Asian Champions League is the first since 2016 in which clubs from both nations have been permitted to play one another home and away. Egypt - The Sovereign Fund of Egypt (TSFE) is preparing El Mostakbal Urban Development (MIDAR) for an initial public offering (IPO) on the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) in the first half of 2024, sources told Daily News Egypt. The fund has recently added MIDAR to its Pre-IPO Fund, which aims to facilitate the sale of government stakes to strategic investors. The sources also said that the National Investment Bank and Banque Misr are planning to exit MIDAR as part of the IPO process. MIDAR is owned by Banque Misr (40%), the National Investment Bank (34.4%), the Arab Contractors Company (10.9%), the National Bank of Egypt (8.9%), and Misr Capital Company (5.6%). It is the main owner and developer of Mostaqbal City, which covers an area of about 11,000 feddan in the natural extension of New Cairo.
BP announced that it has secured a bid for an offshore exploration block in Egypt as part of the 2022 International Bid Round by the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS). The block, named EGY-MED-E8 (East Port Said), is located in the Mediterranean Sea, about 50-90 km from Port Said city. BP has a 33% stake in the block, along with Qatar Energy (33%) and Eni (34%), which is the operator. The initial work program for the first exploration period includes drilling one exploration well and reprocessing existing seismic data. He also said that BP was taking advantage of exploration opportunities near existing infrastructure.
