Madinet Masr (MNHD.CA) has announced that it has surpassed its annual sales goals for 2023 in just nine months, achieving record-breaking sales that exceeded the total sales of any previous year since the company’s establishment. The Secretary General of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Alaa Ezz, announced a significant decrease in the prices of nine basic commodities, starting Sunday. In a telephone interview on the Sada El Balad channel on Tuesday he explained that starting next week, there will be significant, and tangible decreases in the prices of nine basic commodities, in coordination with the government and merchants. The nine basic commodities include oil, sugar, rice, pasta, beans, and dairy products. Ezz explained that the customs authorities released raw materials at the ports to achieve an abundance of goods on market. The state manufacturers, and merchants agreed on an initiative to reduce commodity prices, in coordination with the Central Bank at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

CAIRO - 5 October 2023: Egyptian Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Amr Talaat, received Andris Razans, Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia in Cairo, to discuss ways to advance cooperation between Egypt and Latvia in the fields of communications and information technology. The meeting tackled topics of building digital capabilities, supporting technological innovation and entrepreneurship, financial technology, and electronics design and manufacturing. During the meeting, Dr. Amr Talaat stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral relations between Egypt and Latvia and exchanging experiences in the field of communications and information technology. CAIRO - 5 October 2023: The National Elections Authority (NEA) began receiving the papers of potential candidates for the 2024 presidential elections, for a period of 10 days ending on October 14,The authority will receive the papers every day, even on weekends and official holidays, and it will close at 5 p.m. The National Authority has unified 13 conditions and documents that must be attached to the candidacy application, which are:- The forms for the recommendation of members of the House of Representatives or citizens’ endorsements of the candidate for candidacy. - A criminal record of the applicant for candidacy. In conjunction with the opening of nominations, real estate registration offices will continue to receive citizens wishing to document endorsements of candidates. After the end of the period for submitting nomination papers and its procedures, the authority will prepare a final list of candidates’ names according to the priority of submitting nomination applications, and announce this list by publication in the Official Gazette on November 9.

The government is working on simplifying the customs clearance process, and work is under way to bring about a significant shift in this respect, with a view to turning Egyptian seaports to global ones to boost trade movement, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said. Madbouly made the remarks while chairing a meeting on Tuesday to discuss customs clearance streamlining measures at Egyptian ports, in the presence of the ministers of finance, transport, trade and industry, along with a host of senior officials from the state bodies concerned, including the Central Bank of Egypt, the General Organization for Veterinary Services, the National Food Safety Authority, the Egyptian Customs Authority, and the Maritime Transport Sector. In a statement, Cabinet Spokesman Sameh al-Kheshen said the total value of released goods from January 1 till September 30 had amounted to $53.7 billion, while the total value of strategic commodities released within the same period reached $14.3 billion. In addition, the total value of released production inputs stood at $24.8 billion, the spokesman added, noting that goods worth $5.9 billion had been released in September.

CAIRO - 4 October 2023: The National Electoral Commission is set to begin receiving nomination papers for the 2024 presidential elections starting tomorrow, Thursday, and continuing daily until October 14th, including official holidays. In addition, candidates must provide a receipt confirming the payment of twenty thousand Egyptian pounds to the National Electoral Commission's treasury as security. Lastly, candidates must submit a statement indicating their chosen registered domicile for notification purposes regarding committee-related activities. The National Electoral Commission has set October 16th and 17th for the announcement and publication of the preliminary list of candidate names and their endorsers in the official newspaper.
