The Egyptian state provides huge financial facilities to investors such as tax exemption and support for export programs,” the President said. “A nation cannot move forward without stability and security … Whoever says otherwise is either ignorant or foolish,” Sisi stated during the conference. President Sisi’ current tenure is scheduled to end on April 1, 2024, and the presidential race has started when the National Election Authority invited eligible voters to cast their votes on December 10, 11, and 12 domestically.

Mahmoud Mohieldin, UN Climate Change High-Level Champion for Egypt and UN Special Envoy on Financing 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda has called for new policies for concessional finance and the activation of mechanisms to de-risk financing and investment in climate action in developing countries. Mohieldin stressed that scaling up climate finance in developing countries requires new policies for concessional finance that include low-interest rates and long-term repayment and grace periods. Mohieldin noted that the High-Level Champions (HLCs) have launched a paper this week titled “Breaking Financing Barriers for Just Climate Transition in Africa,” which proposes specific measures to finance climate action on the continent and supports foreign exchange guarantee mechanisms. Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) is in advanced talks to acquire three private Egyptian companies in the healthcare, education, and real estate development sectors, according to sources close to the deals. The sources said that the PIF saw promising investment opportunities in the Egyptian market that were in line with its investment strategy. In August 2022, the PIF acquired minority stakes in four Egyptian companies listed on the Egyptian Stock Exchange (EGX) for a total of $1.3 billion. The PIF purchased a 25% stake in eFinance from the National Investment Bank, valued at EGP 7.27 billion. Furthermore, the PIF acquired a stake of approximately 25% in MOPCO from three government agencies: the Ministry of Finance, the National Investment Bank, and the Egyptian Natural Gas Company (GASCO).
