Egypt is getting ready to host the eighth annual meeting of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) in Sharm El-Sheikh on 25-26 September. The Prime Minister instructed that the event be organized similarly to the climate summit that was held in Sharm El-Sheikh last year. He noted that the Egyptian state has mobilized all its resources to make AIIB’s upcoming annual meetings in Sharm El-Sheikh a big success. He indicated that Egypt’s subscription to AIIB’s capital stands at $650m, making it the largest subscriber in Africa. The Minister of Finance also pointed out that AIIB’s investment portfolio in Egypt stands at $1.3bn, and that AIIB will also offer a guarantee for Egypt issuing green Panda bonds in Chinese Yuan worth $500m.

CAIRO - 13 September 2023: Egypt will establish an integrated industrial complex for flat steel’s production in cooperation with an unnamed international company with an investments of $1 billion. Cabinet Spokesman, Nader Saad, explained that the project’s area is 1.5 million square meters. He added that the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) has approved the project. This came within Egypt’s efforts under President El-Sisi’s directives of providing a supportive environment for Egypt’s heavy industries sector especially the iron and steel industry. CAIRO – 12 September 2023: The Tobruk Coastal Security Administration announced, Tuesday, the arrival of 145 Egyptian bodies to the Tobruk morgue, to be sent to Egypt. The Egyptian victims are among thousands whom been killed and injured due to Mediterranean “Storm Daniel” that hit Libya during the past days. On its official page Facebook, Tobruk Coastal Security Administration confirmed that all Egyptian victims were deported to Egypt. Humanitarian aid is on the way, according to the Tripoli-based Government of National Unity. A flight loaded with 14 tons of supplies, including medical equipment and body bags, was sent to Benghazi this morning.

CAIRO – 13 September 2023: Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shokry made a phone call Tuesday to Moroccan counterpart Nasser Borita extending condolences on the victims of the earthquake, that hit the country Friday incurring over 2,800 deaths, and reiterating Egypt's support and solidarity with the Moroccan people.
