Nearly every outcome of Elon Musk’s recent Twitter takeover is negative: for the average Twitter user, for its laid off employees, for freedom of speech, for Musk himself. As a journalist, I hate the fact Musk fired the very people tasked with moderating hate speech and misinformation on the site. But none of that matters now because, thanks to Elon Musk, it seems everyone hates Twitter, not just me. Celebrities are leaving the site in the wake of Musk’s takeover. And more importantly, employers in journalism and elsewhere have shifted their tone about employees being active on social media, indicating that participation is optional as opposed to ideal.

All of Newfoundland and the southern coast of Labrador are under weather warnings from Environment Canada. Much of the island faces rainfall warnings, while freezing rain warnings are in effect for Bay of Exploits, Bonavista North, Buchans, Corner Brook, Gander and Grand Falls-Windsor. Environment Canada meteorologist Justin Boudreau says the island can expect to see around 30 to 60 millimetres of freezing rain over the course of the weekend. Much of the west coast is reporting periods of freezing rain and near-freezing temperatures late Saturday morning, which has led to messy driving conditions. Grand Falls-Windsor Fire Chief Vince MacKenzie told CBC News Saturday afternoon that it's important to be prepared for an outage as freezing rain continues throughout Saturday.

Nunavut residents will soon see a new scheduled flight between Iqaluit and Igloolik, Nunavut, on weekends. Arctic Fresh Projects, based in Igloolik, is launching the flights as of Saturday.
