NHL Best Bets & Player Props (1/19/23): Auston Matthews, Aleksander Barkov & More! We are officially past the midway point of the long NHL season, with the all-star break on the horizon. Sometimes this may mean taking a team total over instead of a money line or an in-regulation or puck line instead. If this gets past your threshold for a money line wager, I’d then look to the Jackets in regulation. My Favorite Player Props to TargetI’ve explained my philosophy on how I bet player props a few times now, but if you are new to my articles, it goes something like this.

Ontario integrity commissioner, auditor general to launch Greenbelt investigationsTORONTO — Ontario's integrity commissioner and auditor general both announced Wednesday that they would conduct separate investigations into the government's decision to open protected Greenbelt lands up to housing development. The integrity commissioner is launching an investigation into Municipal Affairs and Housing Minister Steve Clark based on a complaint from incoming NDP leader Marit Stiles. She sought an investigation into what she calls "curious timing of recent purchases of Greenbelt land by powerful landowners with donor and political ties to the Ontario PC Party." Stiles asked the integrity commissioner to investigate whether Clark broke ethics rules around making a public policy decision to further someone's private interests. The integrity commissioner declined to investigate a similar complaint by Green Party Leader Mike Schreiner, saying Stiles' request and "extensive affidavit and supporting material" did provide "reasonable and probable grounds" to start an investigation.

Climate misinformation ‘rocket boosters’ on Musk’s TwitterWASHINGTON (AP) — Search for the word “climate” on Twitter and the first automatic recommendation isn't “climate crisis” or “climate jobs” or even “climate change” but instead “climate scam.”Clicking on the recommendation yields dozens of posts denying the reality of climate change and making misleading claims about efforts to mitigate it. The report faulted social media platforms for, among other things, failing to enforce their own policies prohibiting climate change misinformation. It is only the latest to highlight the growing problem of climate misinformation on Twitter. Researchers also found that a significant number of the accounts posting false claims about climate change also spread misinformation about U.S. elections, COVID-19 and vaccines. Twitter's new system, however, makes no distinction between authoritative sources on climate change and anyone with $8 and an opinion, according to Imran Ahmed, the center's chief executive.

The transit corridor has fallen into disrepair in recent years, plagued by crumbling infrastructure and what transit advocates see as sporadic enforcement of the traffic rules by police. The Star shot video during rush hour on January 16, 2023, at Yonge and King Streets, showing how many driver were obeying the rules on the King Street transit priority corridor. But the efficacy of the King Street transit priority corridor has always hinged upon drivers following the rules. “The value of King is impaired if we don’t enforce it,” said David Cooper, a former city of Toronto transportation planner who helped design the King Street pilot. “King Street would be the banner example of where you’d probably want to do that,” Cooper said.
