The latest announcement was Monday, when the NDP government unveiled a “one-stop approach” to provincial permits for housing projects. “The current average wait time, as I understand it, for provincial permits is about two years,” said Eby. But that legislation won’t be ready this year. It’s the same story for marquee housing legislation. Yet legislation won’t come into force until April, consultation won’t begin with municipalities until June, and then reporting on actual housing targets won’t start until December.

In my view it is the choice which all our history and the long tradition of Canada’s support for the United Nations oblige us to make today. The United Nations, not the United States, set the January 15 deadline,” he said. Nobody pushes the United Nations around, not even the United States. Canada has had a proud role in the United Nations right from the beginning. This country has stood by the United Nations even when other countries, including the United States, lost faith in that organization.”

OK, then let’s look at job titles courtesy of Susanna Gallani, professor at Harvard Business School. It appears that how you pay people has a very close correlation to the innovation you can expect from them. How can a company reward “innovation” without unbalancing all the required max/min pay scales tied to titles? They need to create an atmosphere in which there is less fear — whether fear of reprisal or fear of appearing stupid or fear of failure. Beware of Premiers Bearing Promises of a Quick Health Care FixWinston Churchill famously said, ‘Never let a good crisis go to waste,’ and clearly Premiers Doug Ford in Ontario and Danielle Smith in Alberta, took note. Both are seizing this crisis in our healthcare system to institute huge, ideologically motivated changes to health care delivery. They promise a quick fix, but what they really want is to privatize as much of the system as they can, ripping away at the bedrock of our public health care system. Recent polling released by the Ontario Federation of Labour showed that 60% of Ontarians oppose private health care delivery. We are seeing public health care failing across the country.

They say it also reveals the precariousness of the province’s pediatric hospital system, long undersized to meet the demands of a growing population. “We are still very, very busy,” says Dr. Steven Schwartz, chief of SickKids’ department of critical care medicine. “It was well over 100 by the end of December,” Schwartz says, noting Ontario has about 100 pediatric critical care beds but can add more during surges. “Those (teenage patients) were spread out over time but that’s essentially the entire province’s worth of pediatric ICU beds,” Schwartz says. The Star also asked whether general hospitals are still providing critical care for older teenagers.
