“According to the results, Covid-19 pandemic and related restrictions on international tourism – both outbound and inbound – served as an eye-opener to the significance of domestic tourism in the Nordic countries and autonomous areas,” the report “Exploring Domestic Tourism in the Nordics,” the report said. “Development of the domestic tourism sector was a low-priority effort compared to development of inbound tourism in all the Nordic countries before the pandemic. However, those that have focused resources on domestic tourism have seen significant growth. “Investing in domestic tourism has helped tourism enterprises in the Nordic countries not only to survive the COVID-19 crisis, but also to be able to grow during it,” the study said. “Given similar preferences of the domestic tourists in the Nordic countries, products created to serve domestic markets in any Nordic country can be readily marketed in other Nordic countries as well,” the study said.

Politico reporter Kelsey Tamorrino writes about House conservatives that have successfully passed bipartisan legislation aimed at preventing the federal government from banning gas stoves. In a nutshell:The Gas Stove Protection and Freedom Act received support from 29 Democrats, although it is unlikely to advance in the Democratic-controlled Senate. While there are currently no federal proposals to ban gas stoves, Republicans argue that the legislation serves as pushback against perceived overreach by the Biden administration and its influence on consumers' choices. Big picture:The long-term health impacts of gas stoves have become a contentious issue. There, Vivek Ramaswamy, an entrepreneur and investor who is also seeking the Republican presidential nomination, challenged his fellow candidates to commit to pardoning Donald Trump of the federal charges if they win the election. Ramaswamy wore a white hat bearing the word “Truth,” perhaps nodding to the hard reality that Trump’s legal misery is dominating the public conversation and winning him lots of sympathy among Republican voters. And the only way for the other Republican contenders to get attention is by positioning themselves in the shadow of an alleged criminal. And by the time he was arraigned in Miami, Trump’s lead had risen to nearly 54 per cent compared to less than 22 per cent for DeSantis. “What is being done to President Trump should terrify all citizens of this country.

Sea ice can be a draw for tourists, but it's keeping away cruise ships headed for Corner BrookCruise ships haven't been able to make it to Corner Brook this year due to sea ice, which has led to four cancelled trips early in the tourism season. Essentially, it means there's too much sea ice around the island for cruise ships to safely travel. Jennifer Hartley, business development manager for the Port of Corner Brook, says the amount of ice is causing trouble for arriving ships. She sells Indigenous crafts and clothing pieces on the Corner Brook dock when cruise ships arrive. The Navigator is still booked to make its first — and final — entry into the Port of Corner Brook on June 30.
