The TDSB’s decision reverses its previous stance on accommodations for 2SLGBTQ+ education, communicated in a memorandum to principals (2002). In response to a discriminatory Declaration of Parental and Family Rights, it affirmed human rights education prevents discrimination and that “no student can be exempted from Human Rights education.”In a TDSB Curriculum Resource Guide (2011), the board further explains that parents may not receive (i.e., religious) accommodations from the discussion of 2SLGBTQ+ issues because it violates Human Rights Policy: “Furthermore, this is consistent with the ideal that human rights education is an essential strategy for preventing human rights abuses.”Why did this position change during a moment when queer and trans children are acutely vulnerable? We read the TDSB’s softening on human rights education as a failure to protect 2SLGBTQ+ students. When school boards permit opting-out of human rights education, it sends a message that these rights are debatable. They cannot compromise their vision and mission to pressure from those whose beliefs trample on the human rights of vulnerable groups.

McKelvie was appointed to the deputy mayor position by Tory, and had also vowed to stay neutral in the race.

© Provided by National Post When Michelle Rempel Garner filed an access-to-Information claim for internal communications that produced that boilerplate nonsense ... well, it’s quite a scene, writes Chris Selley. Rempel Garner had some very specific questions : “What criteria (were) used to determine which projects were selected,” for example. Natural Resources Canada responded with boilerplate nonsense: “Canada is working with allies around the world to develop secure critical minerals value chains,” yadda yadda yadda. And when Rempel Garner filed an ATI claim for the internal communications that produced that boilerplate nonsense … well, it’s quite a scene. A separate order paper question, filed by Rempel Garner last month, might be more objectionable to the average Canadian.

Daigle, 61, a Commons guard — and a professional female boxer back before that was cool — was on the front lines during the 2014 Parliament Hill attack. On Wednesday, she clocked her final shift as a constable for the Parliamentary Protective Service after 20 years. Nathan Cirillo at the National War Memorial, got past RCMP outside then stormed into Centre Block. Daigle was stationed in the Hall of Honour, waiting for a French delegation that was due to arrive on Parliament Hill, just before the gunman charged through the front doors. It was that attack that led to the consolidation of three separate security forces — the House of Commons Security Service, Senate Protective Services and RCMP Parliament Hill unit — under the umbrella of the Parliamentary Protective Service.

Ltd. from Maple Leaf Foods Inc. in 2014, will pay a $50-million fine to settle allegations over Canada Bread‘s role in price fixing. Canada Bread has settled allegations it took part in a price-fixing scheme that regulators contend began in 2001 and spanned at least 14 years. It’s not a uniform in the traditional sense, like a blazer, tie and pleated kilt. Recently, she told me one of her friends suggested she wear something different for a change. I explained to my daughter that wearing the same thing, or variations on the same look, is called uniform dressing. Von Furstenberg wanted to create something that could be worn anywhere, didn’t wrinkle and made it easy to get dressed — a uniform. For my daughter, the main selling point of her uniform is simple, and universal: She feels comfortable in it.
