Việt Nam achieves $20.19b trade surplus in eight months
HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam enjoyed a trade surplus of US$20.19 billion in the first eight months of this year, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO). However, the total trade value in the period posted a year-over-year decrease of 13.1 per cent to $435.23 billion. In eight months, 30 items posted export turnover of over $1 billion, accounting for 91.8 per cent of the country's total export turnover. The US was Việt Nam's largest export market with an estimated turnover of $62.3 billion, while China was Việt Nam's largest import market with $68.1 billion. This will be an advantage in helping the export value surge.

Vietnam to send over 500-member delegation to 19th ASIAD
The delegation, led by Director of the Vietnam Sports Administration Dang Ha Viet, comprises more than 500 members, including 90 coaches and 337 athletes of 31 sports. The Vietnam sports delegation to the 19th ASIAD is divided into three groups. Swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang has been selected as the flag holder of Vietnam at the ASIAD opening ceremony. At the 19th ASIAD, Vietnam aims for 2-5 gold medals. At the 18th ASIAD, Vietnam won four gold, 16 silver and 18 bronze medals./.

Vietnam’s coconut export to reach 1 billion USD in 2025
At the end of 2022, coconut export turnover was over 700 million USD. But based on the momentum of the US and China agreeing to import Vietnamese coconuts, around the end of 2024 and early 2025, coconut export turnover will be up to 1 billion USD. VN's macro-economic indices in August released
HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam's Industrial Production Index (IIP) for August increased by 2.9 per cent compared to the previous month and by 2.6 per cent compared to the same period last year. Employment increased by 0.9 per cent in August compared to the previous month but decreased by 2.9 per cent compared to the same period last year. In August, more than 14,000 new businesses were registered, a 2.3 per cent increase from July and a 17.9 per cent increase compared to August 2022. Consumer Price Index (CPI) for August 2023 increased by 0.88 per cent compared to the previous month. In August 2023, Việt Nam welcomed 1.2 million international visitors, a 17.2 per cent increase compared to the previous month, and 2.5 times higher than the same period last year.
