Foreign investment powers national economy into globalisation: workshop
HÀ NỘI — Foreign investment has proven itself as a dynamic economic sector, with significant contributions to the growth of the national economy as well as its integration into the world, heard a recent workshop in Hà Nội. The event was jointly held by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) and the Ministry of Planning and Investment to mark 35 years of Việt Nam’s foreign investment attraction. Digital transformation will drive tourism development: Deputy PM
HCM CITY — Digital transformation will be the driving force in achieving a breakthrough in tourism and making that industry green, Deputy Prime Minister Trần Hồng Hà has said. Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyễn Văn Hùng said the tourism industry was implementing Government Resolution No 82/NQ-CP to accelerate its recovery. The May resolution identified digital transformation as a core mission to promote the recovery and enhance the competitiveness of the tourism industry, he said. Digital transformation would help improve the customer experience and create a positive impact during the entire trip from the booking stage onwards, he added. According to Srettha, Thailand was ranked 4th among Asean countries behind Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam on the Corruption Perceptions Index last year. He said technology can boost transparency, particularly e-payments which will be used in the state sector in lieu of cash for easy traceability.

VN-Index snaps six-day gain on profit-taking pressure
HÀ NỘI — The market ended mixed on Thursday, with the benchmark VN-Index snapping its gaining streak of six days. The VN-Index on the Hồ Chí Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) declined 2.36 points, or 0.19 per cent, to 1,243.14 points. Also weighing on the sentiment, securities stocks also reported poor performances. SSI Securities Corporation (SSI) dipped 1.03 per cent, VIX Securities JSC (VIX) plummeted 1 per cent, SHS fell 1.05 per cent, and Hồ Chí Minh City Securities Corporation (HCM) down 1.47 per cent. Adding to the bearish, foreign investors were net sellers on the southern market as they net sold up to VNĐ884 billion.

(Photo: VNA)– Israeli people and businesses have welcomed and highly valued Vietnam’s new visa policy, affirming that the country is taking steps to reform its procedures in order to make it easier for foreigners to vacation and do business in the Southeast Asian nation.The new visa policy, coming into force on August 15, is believed to open up various opportunities for tourism development Under the policy, the e-visa validity period is extended to 90 days from 30 days. Within 90 days after the e-visa is granted, foreigners can enter and exit Vietnam for unlimited times and without having to apply for new visas. Citizens of the countries are entitled to Vietnam’s unilateral visa exemption to be granted a temporary residence period of 45 days, instead of 15 days like in the past, and have visa granting and temporary residence extension considered in line with regulations.Talking to the Vietnam News Agency in Tel Aviv, respondents said that instead of having to physically stamp visas onto passports, applying for e-visas will be more convenient, faster, and cost-effective.Eran Laufman, a resident of Yavne city said six months ago, he traveled to Vietnam and was impressed by famous destinations like Ha Long Bay and Sapa.
