Days later, his mother and sister made a decision that likely pleased the Trump administration: They followed Colindres out of the United States. Now, Baquedano Amador was wearing an ankle monitor, and the Trump administration had given her 30 days to leave the United States. The Trump administration has claimed that those who “self-deport” now will get the chance to reenter the U.S. later. Officials have also used the brutal conditions in immigration detention as self-deportation propaganda. We also don’t know what the Trump administration considers a “self-deportation,” or if they are counting these figures in their overall deportation numbers.

Federal agents working for ICE detain immigrants and asylum-seekers reporting for immigration court proceedings in New York City on July 24, 2025. The demand comes in the wake of multiple reports of men impersonating Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents to kidnap and assault women. “People cannot tell the difference between a real agent and a criminal, and that makes everyone less safe – especially immigrant women who are the most vulnerable.”There have been at least three instances of men impersonating ICE agents in order to hurt women. ICE agents are often seen conducting raids fully masked, without proper identification and wearing plain clothes — making it increasingly hard to identify who is carrying out arrests. LOADING ERROR LOADINGWASHINGTON — President Donald Trump declared a “crime emergency” here on Monday, took temporary control of the D.C. police department and said he’d deploy the National Guard. AdvertisementIt’s not uncommon for a president to use emergency powers, including for dubious reasons — Biden used emergency powers supposedly justified by the coronavirus pandemic to try to forgive student debt, for instance — but William Banks, a law professor at Syracuse University, said Trump’s use of emergency powers across his first and second terms exceeds what other modern presidents have done. “It conjures comparisons to authoritarian leaders in other parts of the world and other times in our history.”Democrats and even some libertarian-leaning Republicans have criticized Trump’s use of emergency powers. Data from the Metropolitan Police Department shows violent crime declined 35% in 2024 and fell a further 26% so far this year. “There is no crime emergency in the District of Columbia,” Schwalb wrote in a social media post.

My spouse, my wife of 52 years, my high school sweetheart was going to die, and there was nothing I or anyone else could do about it. I can tell you coping with Diane’s death is the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Diane’s death has taught me that no matter how much we love someone, we all have our own lives to live. The best way for me to honor the life Diane and I had together is to live the rest of my life the best way I know how.

We had four grown daughters and nine grandkids, a house we loved, a business we’d built, and a life that, on the surface, looked good. We tell them about the world and how big and beautiful it is, and that they can be part of it, too. Not everyone has the flexibility, resources or support to travel the world full time, and I’m deeply grateful every day that we get to live this way. You can want more, even if your life looks full on paper. But if there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s this: It’s never too late to live a life that feels like your own.

Crypto investors are showing renewed optimism following a series of executive actions from the U.S. administration that signal a potential shift in how cryptocurrencies are integrated into mainstream financial systems. The move has been welcomed by hedge funds, private equity firms, and crypto investors, many of whom have been advocating for such regulatory clarity for years [1]. The broader market appears to be factoring in these regulatory developments, with investors showing increased confidence in the long-term viability of digital assets. However, the crypto market remains volatile, and recent corrections, including Bitcoin briefly falling below $116,000 in early August, highlight the ongoing challenges posed by macroeconomic pressures and whale activity [7]. The evolving regulatory landscape is creating a more structured framework for crypto integration into traditional financial systems.
