Chappell Roan may be “HOT TO GO!” but she’s definitely not cool with ICE. Chappell Roan, seen here at an August festival in Budapest, Hungary, said "Fuck ICE" during a sold-out concert in the Los Angeles-area on Friday. Tricia McLaughlin, the assistant secretary for public affairs at the Department of Homeland Security, carved time out of her Sunday to knock the Grammy-winner in a shady statement to TMZ. September numbers from Syracuse University’s Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC) show 71.5% of Department of Homeland Security detainees have no criminal convictions. The nonpartisan research organization calculates its statistics from government data, largely obtained through Freedom of Information Act requests.

After George Stephanopoulos asked Vance if Homan kept the $50,000, Vance called the story a “ridiculous smear.”Advertisement“George, you’ve covered this story ad nauseam,” Vance said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week.” “Tom Homan did not take a bribe. It’s a ridiculous smear, and the reason you guys are going after Tom Homan so aggressively is because he’s doing the job of enforcing the law. “He did not take a bribe,” Vance said. “I asked you whether Tom Homan accepted $50,000 as was heard on an audiotape recorded by the FBI in September 2024 and you did not answer the question.”

A volley of tariffs were introduced, raised and reduced in the year’s first half, igniting retaliation from Chinese leader Xi Jinping. That truce showed signs of fizzling this week, though, with China announcing strict new limits on exports of rare earth minerals crucial to high-tech products. Trump, in turn, threatened an additional 100% tax on Chinese imports by Nov. 1 and export controls on American software. But China may sense an opening, with Trump challenged by a government shutdown and the impacts of the ongoing trade war. American soybean farmers who long relied on Chinese sales are now being passed over for exports from Brazil, Argentina and elsewhere.

People packed up to leave, but I kept turning over his words, which felt big and heavy. I’ve frequently encountered the notion that a woman without kids is somehow absolved of all life’s burdens and efforts. But even in these circles of sisterhood, I have found it hard to convey the unique perception women without kids face. The Last Woman In Line Said 3 Words That Changed My Life Forever. She is currently writing her first book, a firsthand account about life and experiences of women in medicine.

Basically, it’s a recipe for indecision and “analysis paralysis” as people draw out the process of making choices and hesitate to commit. “FOBO is a serious problem that can inflict far more damage than FOMO,” McGinnis noted. “Mentally, FOBO can contribute to anxiety and depression, as the constant search for better options prevents individuals from fully enjoying their present circumstances,” said psychologist Patricia Dixon. Considering your long-term vision and values ― like living a healthy lifestyle and saving money ― and making decisions in accordance with those can help you feel more confident.

Many of us have been told, “don’t speak ill of the dead.” But what happens when someone who caused trauma dies? In 2023, a viral obituary detailed the lifetime of extreme abuse that Gayle Harvey Heckman claimed to experience at her mother’s hands. Any mention that the legacy left behind was one of intense trauma for survivors is summarily dismissed, as was the case for Heckman. I myself am no stranger to trying — and failing — to publish an honest obituary. Because of this, an honest obituary may be a survivor’s only path toward closure.

So when I got the email from Kate, I was intrigued — even excited — by the idea of some sort of life after death. After every email, my mom and I would meet up for happy hour cocktails and spinach artichoke dip to discuss. Sometimes the conversation was silly: joking about Grandpa haunting a bad former boss or spooking drivers who won’t let us merge.
