AdvertisementParnell didn’t disclose a list of the outlets who complied, but several have posted publicly about joining the press corps, according to The New York Times. Another Pentagon spokesperson pointed to Parnell’s statement and did not provide a list of the outlets when asked for comment. Of the outlets that were already in the press corps, only a handful opted to acquiesce to the new protocol, including One America News Network. US President Donald Trump has reversed a planned federal deployment to San Francisco after receiving late-night phone calls from two of Silicon Valley’s most powerful executives, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff. The President explained that these tech leaders spoke highly of Mayor Daniel Lurie’s progress in addressing crime and revitalizing the city. Lurie had carefully avoided provoking Trump throughout the escalating situation, instead emphasizing San Francisco’s improving trajectory, touting returning visitors, leased buildings, and workers coming back to offices. California Governor Gavin Newsom and other Democratic leaders swiftly rejected the idea of federal troops, noting San Francisco’s declining crime rates. Benioff subsequently issued an apology on October 17, stating he no longer believed the National Guard was needed and expressing regret for “the concern it caused”.

When I began to dig into the “How will I afford health care in America?” question, anxiety coursed through my body. Why can you only change your health care plan during one specific time of year? It seemed like no one really understood the American health care system. I called them back immediately and asked to have that “health insurance plan” canceled, which luckily they agreed to do. Whether you’re a student, apprentice, employee, unemployed person, retiree or someone with a disability, you are guaranteed health care.

LOADING ERROR LOADINGPresident Donald Trump won’t deploy federal troops to San Francisco after all, he and city Mayor Daniel Lurie announced Thursday. Trump said San Francisco Bay Area tech CEOs Jensen Huang of NVIDIA and Marc Benioff of Salesforce were among those who called him. Benioff was met with immense outrage earlier this month for saying Trump should send the National Guard to San Francisco. “This doesn’t make our city safer, it terrorizes our communities,” Lurie said of federal deployment in the city. “We don’t exactly know what the federal government is planning in San Francisco and across the Bay Area, but we do know this federal administration has a playbook in cities across the country.”Advertisement

LOADING ERROR LOADINGMore than three weeks into the government shutdown, the Trump administration is calling back furloughed workers at the federal agency that administers health care for millions of Americans. Thousands of employees at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services are being instructed to return to work on Monday. They noted that open enrollment has already begun for Medicare and will soon begin for the Affordable Care Act. “CMS will continue to abide by rules governing the Democrat-led government shutdown.”AdvertisementNearly half of the agency’s more than 6,000 workers would have been furloughed, according to its contingency plan. Kogan said Trump has been violating the law by refusing to spend money Congress has appropriated and also by spending money Congress has not authorized it to — for example, by tapping Defense Department research-and-development funds to pay the troops.
