Fisher-Price is recalling more than 2 million infant Snuga Swings due to a suffocation risk found after reports that five children died sleeping in the device. Fisher-Price is providing a $25 refund to owners who remove those parts, which is available to access on Mattel’s website. Despite that remedy, Richard Trumka Jr., a commissioner of the CPSC, blasted Fisher-Price for not recalling the whole product and said customers should be fully refunded. Fisher-Price has previously recalled other infant swings, including its problem-prone Rock ‘n Play Sleepers. BEIJING : The Chinese government’s flurry of stimulus measures has upended the country’s stock markets. The announcement of a news conference by China’s Ministry of Finance, set for Saturday, has kept those hopes alive. As long as property prices remain depressed, they say, Chinese consumers are less likely to spend. New-home sales by floor area soared 81% over the course of the week compared with a year earlier, the China Index Academy said. Home sales and property visits also jumped in China’s three other top-tier cities—Shanghai, Shenzhen and Guangzhou—which offered similar measures to stimulate home purchases.

JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon kicked off third-quarter earnings season Friday with a stern warning about geopolitical threats that could hurt the global economy. “Recent events show that conditions are treacherous and getting worse,” he wrote in a press release. Dimon’s reimagining of the axis is “working every day to make it worse for the Western world and for America,” he said. He’s repeatedly warned that rising government debt could stoke inflation and complicate the Federal Reserve’s ability to manage the economy. “Cash is a very valuable asset in a turbulent world,” said Dimon on Friday.

Politicians from both major parties have been accused of using their positions to benefit from well-timed stock trades. Can we trust that the people we elect are acting in the nation’s best interests when the evidence suggests otherwise? In contrast, Christopher Collins, a former Republican congressman, faced full legal consequences for insider trading. In 2012, the STOCK Act was introduced to increase transparency and curb insider trading among lawmakers. While it requires timely disclosure of stock trades by politicians, many lawmakers fail to comply, and enforcement has been lax.
