Boss saga a critical test for justice systemA House panel summons a senior police officer and the attorney-general to testify over a decision to drop charges against Red Bull scion Vorayuth Yoovidhya at parliament on Wednesday. Another contentious issue has been the use of cocaine by Mr Vorayuth. Now, it's up to the Vicha panel to expose those involved in the attempted whitewashing of this rich man. The Vicha committee should summon members of the NLA panel and find out who is behind this shameful twist. It summoned eight authorities, including the former deputy attorney-general, police who inspected the Ferrari, and witnesses, before concluding that Mr Vorayuth was clean.

Vorayuth Yoovidhya is escorted to the Thong Lor police station in Bangkok for interrogation, hours after a crash that killed a police officer on Sept 3, 2012. (Photo: Kosol Nakachol)Dentists do not use cocaine as an anaesthetic on patients, the president of the Dental Council said on Friday, rejecting the excuse police used for not filing a drug charge against Red Bull heir Vorayuth 'Boss' Yoovidhya. Dentists no longer used cocaine because its anaesthetic effect was short-lived, and it has been linked to hypertension and impact on the hearts of patients, Mr Pojanart said. The Dental Council was ready to provide police with information, he said, adding that it wanted information on the dentist who treated Mr Vorayuth so that it could verify if cocaine was really administered. The victim was Pol Sgt Maj Wichian Klanprasert, 47, who was based at Thong Lor police station.

'Deal with it,' Epstein told Maxwell in unsealed emailsGhislaine Maxwell -- shown here with the late disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein -- is being held at Brooklyn's high-security Metropolitan Detention CenterNEW YORK - A New York court has unsealed emails revealing that disgraced late financier Jeffrey Epstein tried to reassure accused sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell by telling her she had "done nothing wrong." Maxwell, the daughter of late newspaper baron Robert Maxwell, has pleaded not guilty to sex trafficking minors for the multimillionaire Epstein, with whom she was intimately involved in the 1990s. The emails were among dozens of documents unsealed late Thursday relating to a now-settled defamation lawsuit filed by Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre against Maxwell in 2015. - 'Sex slave' -On January 21, 2015, Epstein sent Maxwell what appears to be a statement she should use to defend herself. (Photo by Honda Automobile (Thailand))The Japanese carmaker Honda saw its car sales fall 36% in the first half this year but four of its models continued to top the popularity table in their respective categories. The company said it accounted 41,326 of the 141,336 passenger cars sold in the country from January through June, securing a 29.2% market share. The sales decline reflected the heavy impact of Covid-19 on consumers’ wallets and the auto industry, which saw sales fall 38.7% from a year earlier to 325,773 units of all car types. However, the company said it was satisfied with its top ranking in sales of passenger cars for the second year. The Honda City remained the buyers’ favourite, gaining a 39.3% market share, while the Civic (56.7%) also topped its segment.

Paris ballet's 'little rats' stay focused as world spinsIt has been a tough year for the "little rats", as Paris Opera ballet students are affectionately knownPARIS - The world might feel like it is falling apart but that is no excuse for slacking at the Paris Opera Ballet School. With the coronavirus pandemic following a marathon strike at the Paris Opera, it has been a tough year for the "little rats", as the students are affectionately known. - 'Little rats' to big stars -"I quickly realised that we were at risk of sacrificing a generation," said the school's director Elisabeth Platel, guardian of the French style of classical dance. The "little rats" were able to restart classes in June after France's two-month lockdown, but 20 of the multinational group were unable to return -- blocked in homes from Canada to Australia by travel bans or quarantines. It's another lesson the former star wants to teach the next generation: the little rats are learning "just how fragile our profession is", she said.

Read the following story by Tatat Bunnag from the Bangkok Post. Violette recently released her first solo album, Glitter And Smoke. We recently spoke with the Thai-Belgian singer about the making of Glitter And Smoke. Why did you decide to call the album Glitter And Smoke? I also used Glitter And Smoke as the title of a short film I made when I studied in film school.

Mr Sethaput, 55, is one of the two finalists who won the cabinet's endorsement on Wednesday. This is not the first time Mr Sethaput has had to deal with an economic crisis. Nonetheless, Mr Sethaput will have to maintain his principles and act in the interests of the public. Becoming the BoT governor in such times is a tough job and Mr Sethaput will have to live up to high public expectations. While he has many challenges to overcome, it's a chance to set new milestones for the central bank and Thailand.

I meant that both figuratively and literally since the busy polluted streets may have you longing for fresh air. These places not only offer you a green haven in the middle of this urban jungle, they're also dripping with gorgeous aesthetics that's pleasing to the eyes and Insta-worthy to boot. Some may argue that it can't really be called a "park" because it isn't that big or green, but I'm just glad that the city's finally repurposing abandoned structures and make them eco-friendly.
