Enlist qualified school teachersIf Thai children are to receive the very best learning experience, the authorities must revamp child protection policies in the education system and ensure that all school faculty staff members are qualified to work with young students. In some of the videos, she is seen pushing a girl to the floor and pulling her hair in the presence of other members of the school's faculty. There have also been claims that many of the teachers the school employs are unqualified and uncertified. The council is also preparing to file complaints against four kindergarten teachers at the school, including Ms Ornuma, a Filipino teacher and two others. The scandalous case requires more than a knee-jerk reaction from the school and the teacher's council.

At times the chaotic debate deteriorated into a shouting match, and that did not go unnoticed by the rest of the world. In another oft-quoted parliamentary exchange, Churchill called Clement Atlee "a modest man with much to be modest about," and referred to Atlee as "a sheep in sheep's clothing". There was admittedly a bit of a fuss a few years ago when one MP called a leading politician a "toad". It must be said that the quality of debate was considerably better than that witnessed in the US during the week. Final wordOf course, politicians insulting one another has been going on since the birth of democracy.

Boost organic farmingThe National Hazardous Substances Committee (NHSC) deserves praise for displaying tenacity in maintaining its ban on two toxic farm chemicals: herbicide paraquat and pesticide chlorpyrifos. The NHSC's latest decision on the matter early this week does not guarantee the end of both toxic chemicals. Indeed, the Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives Ministry has been quite frugal in its help to organic farming. In the last fiscal year, the ministry approved 70 billion baht to provide compensation and subsidies to farmers working in rubber and other cash crops, while the promotion of organic farming only received 1.9 billion baht. The state must create an economy that fosters organic farming and sustainable agriculture by providing subsidies to boost the prices of chemical-free farm products.
