Referendum bill delay a perilous gameA security official with the Democracy Monument in the backdrop. Thailand's democratisation faces a hurdle with delays to charter amendment and the referendum bill. Now the referendum bill -- a crucial mechanism for a charter rewrite -- is facing the same fate as the charter amendment bill. At first, it was though the referendum bill deliberations would be smooth as it was brought for second and third readings on March 18. The delay of the referendum bill means that charter amendment cannot be pursued further.

Mekong hurt by sweet talkWhen a regional grouping or cooperation framework marks its anniversary, it's typical that respective members, through the government or the Foreign Affairs Ministry, send a congratulatory note. The Mekong-Lancang Cooperation (MLC) framework that links Mekong riparian countries, namely China, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar Vietnam and Thailand is no exception. The MLC was conceived and pushed by China, with Thailand's support, and celebrates its fifth year this month. Sending Thailand's congratulatory note on behalf of the Thai government this week was Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Don Pramudwinai. Excessive development has tremendously hurt the river, which is known for its diversity second only to the Amazon.

Analysts expect a larger impact on smaller tankers and oil products, in particular naphtha and fuel oil exports from Europe to Asia, if the canal remained shut for weeks. More than 30 oil tankers have been waiting at either side of the canal to pass through since Tuesday, shipping data on Refinitiv showed. Several LNG tankers have been diverted, one Singapore-based shipbroker said, adding that sentiment for LNG tanker rates are more positive following the incident. Referendum bill is crucialThe delay in the proceedings of the referendum bill last week prompted public concerns over attempts to shoot down the legislation, even though chief government whip Wirach Ratanasate tried to quell such fears. The chief government whip said Senator Surachai Liangboonlertchai, who chairs the committee vetting the referendum bill, has pledged to finish reviewing it next week. They could then initiate another bill to amend the referendum bill to return it to its original version. There are no excuses to allow this vital referendum bill which is tied to charter amendments to be aborted. On the contrary, the government must do whatever it can to save this bill so charter change can happen.

Organisers the GMS Logistics Forum pose for a group photo at the opening of the forum at the Amari Pattaya Hotel on Thursday. Thailand has the potential to become a key logistics hub in the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) through its Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), a forum was told. Mr Narongchai said connectivity in the logistics and transport sectors, especially in the EEC, is an important step Thailand needs to take to boost its competitive advantage in the global market. Development projects such as the Don Mueang–Suvarnabhumi–U-Tapao high-speed railway and the expansion of the sea port at Laem Chabang and Map Ta Phut in the EEC could transform Thailand into a logistics hub in GMS. Suriyan Vichitlekarn, executive director of the Mekong Institute, said he encouraged government, business, and private sector representatives to take advantage of the policy discussions, targeted solutions, and practical approaches highlighted across the Forum's activities.

If you long for a town with a vintage feel, genuine friendliness and rustic natural charm, look no further. Exploring the lively small town on foot is doable but with a bicycle, it’s more fun and facile. However, you never experience the true charms of this small town until you actually make a visit. Photharam is roughly divided into three parts from north to south, namely Talat Bon (Upper Market), Talat Klang (Central Market) and Talat Lang (Lower Market). Most of the surviving wooden shophouses, however, can be found in Talat Bon and Talat Lang.

Relief hopes dashed againBack in mid-December last year, as Thais largely adapted to and enjoyed the "new normal", under the impression that Covid-19 had been placed under control, they were shocked with reports of a new outbreak in Samut Sakhon. Even this month, city areas close to Samut Sakhon like Bang Khun Thian and Bang Bon were still struggling with the virus threat. There are 1,615 immigration detainees at the detention centres, with Myanmar, the majority, followed by Vietnamese and Cambodian nationals. There are reports that vaccinations have been provided to immigration officers who have been in contact with immigration detainees. After the Samut Sakhon incident, it would be hoped authorities handling migrants could have done it better.

To quote Dr Wessolly: “The best doctor is your own body.”The safety and efficacy of parenteral (infusions) have been tested over the past 20 years by Dr. Wessolly and associated scientists Dr. Rebekka Zirbel and Dr. Thomas Fink. Functional medicine, by contrast, seeks to understand origins and patterns to address long-term illness leading to ongoing preventative regimes. If a disease does occur, then functional medicine works to repair and restore the body. Functional medicine based on natural substances, treating the patient uniquely and holistically, needs emerging evidence-based standards to establish proof. This process is already underway analysing the thousands of clients that Dr. Wessolly himself has treated over the years, as well as clients in Asia.
