'GPO in Hospital' pilot launches in LamphunListen to this articleLAMPHUN: The Government Pharmaceutical Organisation has launched its "GPO in Hospital" pilot project in the northern region, a move aimed at improving drug stockpile management to save costs and ensuring enough supplies for patients. The issue stems from the need to stabilise pharmaceutical supplies and hospital budgeting, as overstocking or understocking can lead to financial problems for medical providers. "Our pilot project will be at Ban Hong Hospital in Lamphum province because it is not far from our drug warehouse in Chiang Mai province. The GPO then ships the products to the hospital under its fast track system to reduce drug stockpiling. In March, the "GPO in Hospital" project was launched in Chumphon Khet Udomsakdi Hospital in Chumphon province and was successful in reducing the drug stockpile period from 1.5 months to one week.
