BTS shares drop, BRT future uncertain after Chadchart victoryBTS shares dropped on Monday due to concerns about the policy of incoming Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt on the Green Line concession. Analysts said BTS share prices came under pressure because of the former transport minister's pre-election comments on the future of the Green Line. The Green Line, including both the Silom and Sukhumvit lines, is operated by BTS on a 30-year concession signed with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA). The Green Line is not the only mass transit line on the watchlist of the incoming governor. Mr Chadchart has made clear that the future of the loss-ridden BRT is in his sights.

Meanwhile, two other polling stations had a surplus of ballot papers, suggesting a mix-up over distribution of voting papers to the four polling stations involved. “This means the city is unable to announce the total tally of votes in the Pattaya mayor and city council elections on Sunday,” said Pattaya permanent-secretary Pramote Thapthim on Sunday night. Pramote explained that polling stations No 2 in constituency 1 and No 20 in constituency 4 each reported one missing set of ballot papers for the mayoral election. Meanwhile, polling stations No 29 in constituency 2 and No 5 in constituency 3 were each issued one extra set of ballot papers for the council election. “We have reported the issue to the Election Commission, which will give a ruling and announce re-elections at the problematic polling stations,” Pramote said.

Pornprom SatrabhayaThe Oil Fuel Fund has enough credibility for financial institutions to extend it loans to boost liquidity, enabling it to subsidise the domestic oil price, says deputy permanent finance secretary Theeraj Athanavanich. The fund is a key mechanism for stabilising the domestic oil price and would not borrow under normal circumstances, said Mr Theeraj. When considering loans for the fund, financial institutions cannot apply the same criteria as when lending to normal businesses, he said. He said it is possible financial institutions will extend loans to the fund for a term of 3-5 years. Part of the five-baht reduction is earmarked for subsidising the Oil Fuel Fund, with the remainder used to help cap the diesel price, said a ministry source who requested anonymity.

One month ago, the All England Club (AELTC) revealed their decision of declining entries from Russian and Belarusian players to the Wimbledon Championships 2022, which has been condemned by the world governing bodies for both the men's and women's professional tennis. The ATP insisted in a statement on Friday that the ability for players of any nationality to enter tournaments based on merit, and without discrimination, is fundamental to the tour. "The decision by Wimbledon to ban Russian and Belarusian players from competing in the UK this summer undermines this principle and the integrity of the ATP Ranking system." The WTA also said that they decided not to award ranking points to this year's Wimbledon "as a result of the AELTC's position that it will not honour its obligation to use the WTA Rankings for entry into Wimbledon and proceed with a partial field not based on merit".

They concluded, almost unbelievably, with City triumphant, but only after the reigning champs came back from two down with 15 minutes remaining to win 3-2. Ilkay Gundogan's second goal, and City's third, sent tears rolling down Liverpool cheeks. It clinched a fourth title in five years for City, and a sixth in 11.
