President Uhuru Kenyatta has said the World Bank will fund Sh111 billion projects in northern Kenya. He said the interventions are designed to address problems consistent with the World Bank Country Partnership Framework. In a statement by State House spokesman Manoah Esipisu, the World Bank has been working on an initiative to fund transformative development projects in northern Kenya. “The government is committed to development, which the World Bank is prepared to support through a series of interventions by launching its Northeastern Kenya Development Initiative,” Esipisu said. He said the World Bank has made new commitments, including financing the Isiolo-Mandera road for Sh50 billion.
