Work begins on manned level crossing in Dindigul

The railways decided to covert the unmanned level crossing into a manned level crossing as all vehicles going to the city from more than 50 villages on the eastern side had to pass through this unmanned level crossing. Thousands of people in several colonies near Balakrishanpuram use this level crossing on a daily basis. A concrete link road between Siluvathur Road old railway gate and the unmanned level crossing was laid by the railways before closing a level crossing on Siluvathur Main Road permanently for constructing a subway and an overbridge across Dindigul-Palani track. Railway officials measured the area to fix two gates on both sides of the link road at the unmanned level crossing, and to set up a control room to regulate traffic. Moreover, the railway gatekeepers had to walk half a km to reach this unmanned level crossing every time before arrival of trains to close the road with chains.
