Woman with chopped hands gets a lifeline

Another company has come out to support Jackline Mwende, the Machakos woman whose hands were chopped off by her husband. The company’s chief social officer of the healthcare business sector, Rasha Kelej, said she will get prosthetic hands in addition to physical and psychological rehabilitation. Electronics firm LG last week offered the 27-year-old woman free electronic prosthetic limbs worth Sh10 million. Taita Taveta women representative and ambassador for ‘Merck More than a Mother’ Joyce Lay visited Mwende and condemned the attack. The Merck More than a Mother initiative yesterday said it will also establish a business for Mwende.
