A domestic help, along with a few others, smothered a 53-year-old woman to death before robbing her house in Lajpat Nagar on Tuesday. According to the police, the accused fled with cash and jewellery worth lakhs, suggesting that robbery was the prime motive behind the murder. The robbery and murder came to light around 3 pm when the husband of the deceased returned home. He found his wife unconscious, the servant tied up, and the house ransacked. We have registered a case of murder and robbery or dacoity, with attempt to cause death or grievous hurt at the Amar Colony Police station.
