LONDON -- English Premier League side West Ham United signed striker Javier Hernandez from Bayer Leverkusen on Monday for a fee of 16 million pounds (US$21 million). The Mexican international returns to the Premier League on a three-year contract, having previously played at Manchester United from 2010-14. "It was not a difficult decision," the 29-year-old, known as Chicharito, which translates to Little Pea, told the West Ham website. "For me, the Premier League is the best league in the world and when the opportunity came, I was desperate to sign for this club." Hernandez scored 59 goals and won two Premier League titles during his time with United.
