Imported general goods are to enjoy a 50 percent cut in tax or duty paid while imported vehicle see a 30 percent slash. The move is expected to curb corruption and make Ghana’s ports competitive but the vehicle parts traders are furious a list circulated on social media excluded imported vehicle parts. The Co-Chairman of the Abossey Okai Spare Parts dealers Association, Clement Boateng submits there’s need to meet members and deliberate before meeting tax and port authorities on the issue. He however assured there will be a reduction in the charges on products should government’s plan include them.
