GUWAHATI: Vice-President Mohammad Hamid Ansari spoke deeply of his love for books while inaugurating the 19th National Convention on Knowledge, Library and Information Networking 2016 at Tezpur University on Wednesday.Governor Banwarilal Purohit, irrigation minister Ranjit Dutta, and VC of Tezpur University Mihir Kanti Chaudhuri were present at the launch of the convention which was organized by the central university and Developing Library Network, New Delhi, (DELNET).Libraries continued to play a key role in providing open and free access to information, Ansari said. "I am a bookworm. "The audience knows that with the advent of the internet, the library is no longer a physical space. It has been transformed into a placeless resource. Despite this paradigm shift, it remains true that libraries continue to play a central role in providing information and ideas," he told the gathering.
