Stephen RobertsonTwo University of Otago academics have been recognised for their achievements in the fields of mathematics and genetics, becoming centenary fellows of the Royal Society of New Zealand. Prof Robertson has gained international recognition for his expertise in genetic mutations, specifically those affecting the skeleton and the brain. He had collaborated with fellows of the Royal Society and said it was about making connections and forming a network, as well as recognition. Before attending the Otago Medical School he went to Otago Boys’ High School, spending nine years in Dunedin in total. Prof Higham, who could not be reached for comment on Friday, is the deputy director of the Oxford Radiocarbon Accelerator Unit and the son of Otago archaeologist Prof Charles Higham.
