Under-fire ticketing company founder sells major Highlanders stake

The man behind a ticketing company struggling to refund tickets across the country has sold a major stake in the Highlanders. Ticket Rocket director Matthew Davey has been the largest shareholder of the Dunedin-based rugby franchise since buying into the Highlanders in 2015. That relationship maybe changing with Davey, according to company records, selling 300 of his 462 shares in the Highlanders in May. Earlier this week Stuff reported that a lawyer acting for Ticket Rocket tried to suppress a judgment freezing $676,000 held by the company. The company was used by the Highlanders rugby team, which Davey part owns, but was replaced with Ticketek in March.
