KUALA LUMPUR: Umno Youth has submitted a memorandum of demands to the United Nations (UN), urging it to put an end to the escalating violence in Myanmar’s Rakhine state. In the memorandum, Umno Youth called on the UN to hold an emergency special session to address the plight of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar. “Umno Youth has also consulted the Foreign Ministry on the matter and we will refer it to the Umno Youth chief. Khairul was accompanied by several representatives from Umno Youth and Youth Associations Malaysia. The violence in Rakhine, Myanmar peaked on Aug 25 after an attack on dozens of police posts by Rohingya insurgents.
