President Uhuru Kenyatta kicked off his three day tour of Ukambani region yesterday with a bag of goodies with the 2017 polls expected to take centre stage. However, a section of Ukambani leaders have rubished claims Uhuru's tour of the region will give Jubilee political mileage. The stragegy includes presidential visits, wooing local leaders and opinion shapers, completion of promised projects and pledging more projects. On Saturday, the President will visit Kitui County before winding his tour of Ukambani in Makueni on Sunday. The leaders welcomed the President's visit but assured him of leaving with an "empty political basket".
