The victim has been in a land dispute with her sister Jolekha and her husband NesarA Union Parishad (UP) member has been arrested and sent to jail for beating a woman in Bogra. Ward 5 UP member Abdul Mannan allegedly beat Shahanara Begum, 45, after calling her in to his office at Kohitkul village in Fapor union of Bogra Sadar upazila to settle a land dispute on Tuesday, March 26. Nesar, the husband of Shahanara’s sister Jolekha, was also named as an accused in the case. According to case details, Shahanara has been in a land dispute with her sister and her husband. Bogra Sadar police station SI Solaiman Ali confirmed the incident, and said Abdul Mannan has previously beaten two other women during arbitration of disputes.
