UP hunt for 100 Ganga scholars

Piyush SrivastavaRiver awarenessLucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government is looking for 100 "scholars" on the Ganga who could make the people "aware" of the importance of the holy river. Kumar on Thursday held a meeting with officials of the state Ganga committee of the National Mission for Clean Ganga, an initiative of the Union ministry of water resources, river development and Ganga rejuvenation. Traditionally, the Kumbh Mela is held every 12 years and the Ardh Kumbh every six years. Since the Kumbh Mela was held in Allahabad in 2013, the Ardh Kumbh should ideally be held in 2019. The government decided to publicise the Ardh Kumbh as Kumbh after Unesco last month decided to list Kumbh Mela as a "Global Intangible Cultural Heritage".
