The two suspects were arrested on Saturday following a tip-off that there was a vehicle transporting rhino horns. Police confirmed that it was one of the biggest hauls of rhino horns in the country. They were found in possession of those 167 rhino horns. Police added that the rhino horns are worth a substantial amount of money and were destined for the Southeast Asian markets. In 2017, a leading private rhino breeder John Hume organised an online rhino auction after South Africa’s top court lifted an eight-year moratorium on the domestic trade of rhino horns.
