Two confirmed cases of myrtle rust infection in HamiltonSUPPLIED MPI is expected high levels of myrtle rust infection. Hot, wet and windy weather conditions are likely to help the spread of myrtle rust as Hamilton deals with infection at its door. Hamilton has been infected twice with myrtle rust since the beginning of the year, Ministry for Primary Industries myrtle rust incident controller Dr Catherine Duthie confirmed. The first case of myrtle rust in Hamilton was found at Claudelands in mid-January. As of March, 12, myrtle rust infections in Waikato climbed to 33, mostly at Ōtorohanga and Te Kuiti.
