Two units of Bangladesh Chhatra League, the student wing of ruling party Awami League, engaged in an internal clash at the Central Shaheed Minar on the Language Martyrs’ Day. According to witnesses, the scuffle originated as different organizations carrying the banners of Awami League, Chhatra League and their associate organizations gathered in front of the Shaheed Minar alter. Members of the Suhrawardy College unit of Chhatra League engaged in a scuffle with their counterparts from the Habibullah Bahar University College around 8:45am on Wednesday morning. Our photographer, Mehedi Hasan confirmed that the scuffle happened between groups carrying banners of Chhatra League. DU Chhatra League Bijoy Ekattor Hall unit President Fakir Rasel Ahmed told the Dhaka Tribune that one of the members of his unit were sucked into the clash between Rampura Jubo League and Lalbagh Awami League, while others attempted to restrain him.
