A spokesman for Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Monday that President Donald Trump has accepted an invitation to visit the country that straddles Asia and Europe. Kalin says Erdogan extended the invitation during a weekend phone call between the two presidents on the withdrawal of American troops from Syria. Turkish-backed Syrian fighters are also preparing to deploy in eastern Syria alongside Turkish troops once American forces withdraw. Against the advice of many in his own administration, President Donald Trump is pulling U.S. troops out of Syria. Trump has said the withdrawal from Syria will be slow and coordinated with Turkey, but hasn't provided a timetable.
