The tribunal probing judge Philip Tunoi has adjourned to next Tuesday for parties to study a ruling that retired him and DCJ Kalpana Rawal. On Tuesday, a five-judge bench of the Supreme Court sent the Deputy Chief Justice home at the age 70. The three are Chief Justice Willy Mutunga, justices Mohammed Ibrahim and Smokin Wanjala. Consequently, they set aside orders suspending retirement of Justice Rawal which were issued by justice Njoki Ndungu on May 27. Tunoi, who was suspended, is being investigated for allegedly taking a Sh200 million bribe from Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero to influence a ruling on an election petition.
