Trampers on Stewart Island may be unaware of the nationwide Covid-19 lockdown. There are trampers out on Stewart Island/Rakiura tracks who may be unaware of the nationwide lockdown. The island's constable, Stuart Newton, said there would be accommodation on the island for when the trampers came back out of the bush. There was accommodation available, so those trampers could maintain their bubbles on Stewart Island, Newton said. The Stewart Island ferry is operating for essential travel only.
