Photo: ReutersPrime Minister Jacinda Ardern has announced Medsafe have granted approval for 12- to 15-year-olds to be administered the Pfizer vaccine. Cabinet has agreed to make the Pfizer vaccine available for 12- to 15-year-olds after Medsafe gave it provisional approval for the age bracket in June. From tomorrow, parents and caregivers will be able to book in 12- to 15-year-olds to receive their vaccination at the same time as their parent or caregiver. The Prime Minister assured there is a sufficient supply of the Pfizer vaccine and expanding the age bracket to 12- to 15-year-olds will not affect vaccine availability for others. One dose of the Pfizer vaccine does offer some level of protection against the virus to most people, but two doses are much more effective.
