KUCHING: An official in Sarawak has assured the safety and travel of visitors and tourists in the state, despite the rabies outbreak in the Serian district. "It is definitely safe... as it (the outbreak) is only confined to certain areas in Serian and so far there's no report of new cases. However, he said, those bitten by dogs or cats should seek treatment at the nearest clinic or hospital as precautionary measure. I mean, we need to seek treatment if we get bitten by animals regardless if there's an outbreak or not." "Even if there are tourists going to the affected areas, the local authorities will alert them on the necessary precautionary measures to take."
