Farmer gets 12-months jail for keeping IS images

KUALA LUMPUR: A farmer was sentenced to 12 months' jail by the High Court today for possessing images of the Islamic State (IS) terror group on his mobile phone. "So many people have images of so many things on their phones but they do not go around sharing or promoting the pictures." Muhammad Shahir admitted to having 20 images on his mobile phone at No 8, Jalan RU 9, Taman Rambai Utama in Melaka Tengah, Melaka at 2.25pm on Nov 26, 2016. The unrepresented Muhammad Shahir in seeking a lenient sentence said he is supporting his younger siblings as his parents are sickly. Azman ordered Muhammad Sharir's sentence to take effect from the date-of arrest, which was on Nov 26 last year.
