The city of Toronto has cancelled permits to Toronto Island Park up until July 31, a month longer than previously expected. City-run programs that were scheduled to be held in the park are also cancelled until August, a press release from the city said. The park is 40 per cent submerged, says the release. “Toronto Island Park remains closed to the general public and ferry service continues to be restricted to island residents and authorized personnel only,” it says. “Environment Canada has reported that water levels in Lake Ontario appear to be stabilizing however, even at the current conditions, it will take several weeks or more for water levels to subside.”
