Tolgos pleads for relief food for banditry victims

Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Alex Tolgos has appealed for relief food for displaced families after recent attacks by Pokot bandits that have led to 12 deaths and disrupted business in the Kerio Valley. Tolgos said farmers in Marakwet East have deserted the Kerio Valley after the killings and loss of 6,000 livestock, which has led to acute food shortage. “Farmers in the Kerio Valley stopped producing food as soon as the attacks erupted. “Many families are now living in caves along the Kerio escarpments, without food and medicine,” the governor said. Tolgos spoke after visiting the family of a man shot dead by bandits in Murkutwo.
